SANKT BIRGITTA SCHOOL LIBRARY, DENMARK

Due to lack of space, Sankt Birgitta school purchased a former domestic villa opposite the existing school building to expand into. The villa was rebuilt so it now houses the school library and music facilities. In its specification for library shelving, Sankt Birgitta school indicated that the end users – the children – should have full access to the books, all of the time.

The solution
The Sankt Birgitta School library consists of four rooms of different sizes and dimensions. Two of the rooms have been equipped with low shelving with book holders so children are able to turn the pages of the books without removing them from the shelves. The two other rooms are equipped with higher units alongside display shelving for the storage and display of magazines and books.
