Heritage & Culture Warwickshire, which is responsible for the large collection of the museums in the city of Warwick, sought help from Bruynzeel Storage Systems together with Harrow Green –  a relocation company specialising in handling museum objects, to find a solution for a new collection center. Their current warehouse arrangements were old and certainly did not meet the new standards required. The objectives were to upgrade to a new modern facility while ensuring all the materials from the old site were housed – and leave room for expansion

Rob Dakin (Bruynzeel Storage Systems UK) spent a number of years working with the client and then with the relocation company. As Bruynzeel created the storage solution, the relocation company identified which item should go on which shelf. The collections cover geology, archaeology, costume & textile, social history, herbarium and archive materials.

Delivery from Bruynzeel Storage Systems

Bruynzeel also managed the relocation of some existing systems deemed good enough to be upcycled thus saving the client money.

The £230K project was delivered at the end of April 2020, and Warwickshire Museums had their new collection centre in place.

“The work you completed for us is a great job and we’re really impressed.  Whilst there are a few minor snags to sort (and I understand this is in hand) considering the size of the job and current conditions this is really impressive and a great reflection on all involved in the process from the initial design to the finished construction. I also wanted to say how good the team on site were.  They were very professional, pleasant and polite and really understood the importance of social distancing during this time.  Whilst HCW colleagues have not been on site a great deal during the installation when they have it has been a great reassurance that the team have acted so professionally. It’s a really good job carried out by a good team and we’re very grateful thanks”
